FRIENDLY FIRE: Campaign Advice for Keith Judd…and NY Pizza

Let’s see…A man convicted of extortion in a Texas prison got himself on the ballot in West Virginia and received 41% of the vote against the sitting President of the United States – this man does not need any help from me…

Let’s say you were consulting Keith Judd in WV presidential primary. What advice would you give him?
LYNN KROGH: Judd receiving 41% against Obama’s 59% in WV shows me 1 thing… Democrats are just as angry at the President as Republicans and Conservatives are. This should be a wake up call to the Obama campaign that they’re not going to just stroll back into the White House. As far as Mr. Judd is concerned, I would call Johnnie Cochran.

VINCE CASALE: Let’s see…A man convicted of extortion in a Texas prison got himself on the ballot in West Virginia and received 41% of the vote against the sitting President of the United States – this man does not need any help from me…

At what point do we need to seriously start paying attention to Presidential poll numbers?
LK: NOW. Pay attention to all of it. Some of these polls are bullsh*t, (over-sampling, skewed questions, etc), but you can def see some trends and even begin to predict some trends, as you collect more data. IMHO, this is a race that is really just beginning. The American people are going to be so dis-enchfranchised by the time this thing is over…

VAC: The polls are all crap right now. They are only good for water cooler talk and to keep talking heads on cable news in business. Polling these days is so volatile and fluctuates every time the slightest thing happens in the world. There is way too much time between today and November that the numbers we are seeing today are just not significant. I think that after the convention(s) is a better time for polling to give us a more accurate read on what the electorate is thinking and will be thinking a lot closer to election day.

What states do you think might be surprisingly in play this November?
LK: Pennsylvania, Ohio, anywhere Mitt and Barack decide to spend their time…

VAC: NEW YORK!!!! – hahahahahaha, I almost did that with a straight face. Right now, I really don’t think the electoral map leads to any surprises. The States to watch are Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania if one , candidate grabs all three they will win. If these three and Texas look like they might split evenly, then we can start to look at some of the middle swing states.

Where’s the best place in the state of New York to get pizza?
LK: If you’ve been in a cab lately, Brian Williams says Sacco Pizza (819 Ninth Avenue, between 54th and 55th)…
BUT, I adore Rizzo’s Pizza, old school square pie with 2 shops: Steinway Street in Astoria or Lex and 93rd on the UES.
Upstate – Go to Red Front in downtown Troy… Ask for the COB (Cheese on Bottom, i.e. under the sauce.)
More Troy – I Love….. Also know as I Love Pizza… Slice and a soda for a buck…
Buffalo – Prime 490. Gourmet pizza that has truffle oil on it

VAC: Tony’s (now Napoli’s) Tomato Pie in Utica is the best. (if you don’t know what tomato pie is, you haven’t lived…), Nina’s in Norwich, The Nine’s in Ithaca (I haven’t had it since College, so I assume they haven’t change the recipe), Peasano’s in Mohawk, Sorrento’s in Ilion, Canale’s in Oswego, Rizzo’s on 93rd & Lex (the closest thing to tomato pie outside of Utica), Ripepi’s in St. Johnsville, Angelo’s on 7th (next to the Ed Sullivan Theater)

And if you find yourself in Buffalo… Go to Duff’s… Forget the Pizza and just have the best wings on the planet…

…just to name a few.
