The NY-4 isn’t known for being a competitive congressional district – the current Democrat has stayed there pretty easily since 1996 – but after recent victories from Ed Mangano, Rob Astorino, and Scott Brown…there are less CD’s that seem out of our grasp of victory. All you need is the right candidate, which we thankfully have here in Nassau County: Frank Scaturro.
Frank is a thirty-eight year old law professor at Hofstra Law, who formerly served as counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Many time primaries turn into who is the “real conservative” and who’s just a poseur. With Frank, he helped Sheppard through the Supreme Court nominations of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Sam Alito. So yeah, he’s legit.
I’ve also gotten to know Frank personally over the course of the past year. He’s young and energized, and can’t wait to go to Washington to undo some the damage the current Congress has done over the past year and a half. It’s also amazing how many people I bump into from even outside of New York who know him and think what a great Congressman he’ll make. I was in an airport shuttle leaving a hotel in Indiana last summer, and when one of the other passengers heard I was from Long Island, there first question was, “Do you know Frank?”
Granted, I don’t live in the 4th. My home district is the 3rd where we’ve been under the watchful eye of the great Pete King since 1994*…coincidentally enough the last time the Republican’s took over the house. Many people are drawing comparisons between ’94 and this year. Let’s make Frank Scaturro a member of the Class of 2010!
*Make that 1992, as noted in the comment section.
